About

Hi, I'm Roy

I'm an entrepreneur based in Vancouver, originally from Hong Kong. I run a product business, I publish books on Amazon and KDP, and for the past few years I've been quietly building towards one goal — the freedom to live and work from anywhere in the world.

I'm not there yet. Five years is the plan. But I've learned that if you wait until you're ready to start researching, you're already behind. Visas take time. Tax planning takes time. Figuring out where you actually want to live — and what it really costs — takes time.

So I started doing the research now. And BorderlessGuide is where I publish it.

I travel regularly for work and have spent time across Asia, North America, and Europe. Every time I land somewhere new, I find myself asking the same questions — what would it actually take to stay here longer? What's the visa situation? What does a comfortable life cost in this city? Is the internet fast enough to run a business?

I couldn't find one place that answered those questions clearly and honestly, without trying to sell me a relocation package or a $500 consultation. So I built it myself.

Everything on this site is based on my own research — official government sources, immigration databases, cost of living data, and input from expats who have actually been through these processes. I'm not a lawyer or a financial advisor, and I'll always tell you when something needs professional advice.

But for the fundamentals — what the visa requires, what it costs, what to expect on the ground — I try to give you the most accurate, up-to-date picture I can. Because that's what I needed when I started looking.

If something is wrong or out of date, please let me know. I'd rather fix it than leave bad information up.
